A deputy was dispatched to 340th Street and V Avenue to investigate a reported two vehicle accident. Robert Eric Muir 50, of rural Rippey, was eastbound on 340th Street and had stopped to check some livestock along the roadway. Muir began backing his 20012 Ford F 250 and struck a 2004 Chrysler Sebring being driven by Sherilyn Kay Dunlap 36, of Perry, that was also eastbound on 340th Street. Damage to the Dunlap vehicle was estimated to be $5500 and Sherilyn Dunlap was issued a citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Security Against Liability. The Muir pickup sustained an estimated $3500 in damages and Robert Muir was issued a citation for Unsafe Backing. No injuries were reported and both vehicles drove from the scene.
A deputy was dispatched to the McMahon Access boat ramp on the Raccoon River to investigate the report of illegal dumping.
A deputy was dispatched to the 2400 block of V Avenue to investigate a burglary and theft of personal property from a farm building site.
A deputy was able to locate a reported erratic driver eastbound on Highway 30 from Scranton. The vehicle was followed by the deputy to validate any driving infractions.
A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with trying to locate a stolen pickup truck, that was taken from the Hy Vee Store in Jefferson, and later recovered in a high speed chase in Dallas County. A male subject was arrested at the scene by Dallas County authorities.
A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a juvenile female in the 600 block of 2nd Street in Rippey. The female was found to be safe.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
