David Sloan is one of five candidates vying for the at-large Jefferson City Council seat.

The 54 year-old has lived in Jefferson for 48 years.  He has served as a Jefferson Police Reserve Officer for ten years, Greene County Sheriff’s Reserves for nine years, been a Pheasants Forever member for 22 years, he is also a member of the Jefferson Masonic and Elks lodges.  He currently co-owns Jefferson Monument Works and Boone Monument Company.  He also served in the military for four years.

He is excited to run for City Council and has been to several meetings, which he believes can give him an advantage of seeing how city government operates.  He describes one reason why he is running.

“I think we have a really good Council here.  People forget that there’s a lot of unpopular decisions that they have to make, but they have to consider a whole lot of things.  I think we can put the emphasis on the citizens of the City of Jefferson and help make it great for them.”

Current councilperson Shannon Black recently moved just outside of the City limits and therefore will not seek re-election.
