City of Perry employees will take some time to recognize their peers and focus on being safe tomorrow.

The annual Safety and Employee Appreciation Day takes place midday Wednesday.  City Administrator Sven Peterson says it’s a great event and a chance for everyone to come together for a common purpose.

“We saw a time where our workman’s compensation insurance almost dropped us and said if you guys don’t do something, you won’t have us as your work comp insurance.  We were really able to turn that around and that’s largely in part to our safety committee.  This Safety and Employee Appreciation Day kind of came out of that committee.  We’ll be talking about some safety stuff, first aid type of things but we’ll also be recognizing some of our employees that have been with us for five, ten, fifteen and more years.”

The program takes place from 10:30-1:30pm at the public safety building.
