The next part of Perry’s Latino Americans: 500 Years of History grant from Humanities Iowa is a pilot project that will pair volunteers with English as a Second Language learners.
The Conversations with Coffee series kicks off Wednesday in the Dallas County Hospital’s Tenth Street Bistro.
Perry Public Library Director Mary Murphy says it’s just a chance to practice communicating.
“We’ll be talking about something, maybe let’s go grocery shopping or directions to city hall, something everyday life that you would do and then you would have to talk about it and see if we can get us stumbling through the conversation and learn at the same time.”
The kick off session is at 9:30am Wednesday. It will be lead by Iowa International Center Executive Director Dr. Judith Conlin who will tell us more about the program on Wednesday’s Let’s Talk Dallas County.
