October is National Pizza Month.
One look at the menu of Adair’s Zipp’s Pizzaria tells you they’re one of the most unique, locally owned pizza parlors in the state. Opening Zipp’s in 2012 was a lifelong dream come true for owner Jim Zimmerline, who says he wanted to do pizza his own way.
Zimmerline prides himself on his bizarre and delicious pizza concoctions which includes flavors of chili dog, crab rangoon, taco, chicken bacon ranch, reuben and even pizzas named after local landmarks. All of the specialty pizzas require a lot of trial and error. “When we made the Old Smiley, which is a baked potato pizza named after the Adair water tower I would say that thing took probably 10-15 pizzas before we got it right.”
Zimmerline admits there’s a method to his madness when creating new pizza ideas. “I figure anything that can be made into a sandwich can be made into a pizza, so I just made a lot of pizzas out of sandwiches.”
Zimmerline will tell us what’s coming next to the menu at Zipp’s and also explain what it’s like to own a small town pizzeria, today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
