Greene County’s high school football team averages more than 31 points a game for the season and more than 36 per contest when senior quarterback Daric Whipple plays. The Rams were shut out in the one game Whipple missed due to illness. The Rams will likely need all the offense Whipple and his teammates can muster when they end the regular season on Friday in Carroll vs. the Carroll High Tigers (5-3, 4-1), the second place team in Class 3A District 2. Carroll went north to Algona last Friday and ran over the Bulldogs 63-0. The Rams out scored Boone in Jefferson on Friday, 49-42.

Whiipple had one of the top individual performances for any Ram in any season when he ran for 253 yards and three TD’s, while throwing for 210 yards and two scores. Included in the highlight reel night was a TD run of 95 yards early in the third quarter. He thrown for 1,382 yards and run the ball for 1,018 more in just seven games.

The Tigers have lost only to top 10 rated teams Webster City, Harlan, and Bishop Heelan (Sioux City). Those three are a combined 21-3 this season. Carroll relies heavily on a very big offensive line and the running of senior Matt Pauk, who has 1,094 rushing yards this season.
