The Guthrie County Conservation Board continues to discuss stop signs at trail crossings on the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
Director Joe Hanner says the Board has been in contact with Snyder & Associates Engineers and Planners to get ideas on how to handle the situation. One possible option is partnering with the Iowa Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration to perform a Traffic Engineering Assistance Program (TEAP) at each of the trail crossings. The purpose of the TEAP is to identify cost-effective traffic safety and operational improvements. The TEAP project would take approximately six months to complete.
Hanner says the Board will further discuss the issue at their November meeting.
