Today is the last day for high school students to apply to be a page in the Iowa Legislature.
The unsung heroes of the State Legislature, Representative Clel Baudler says a page’s job isn’t the most exciting in the world, but they provide an important clerical service and the position helps to get interested students’ foot in the door to politics. “They do odd jobs for the legislators and the secretaries. Some of them pass out bills and pass out amendments. If you need a bill, grab a page and they’ll come to your desk, you give them a number and they’ll go to the bill room and bring it back to you.”
Baudler will tell us more about the page position and other legislative news today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
