The Perry football team lost the annual battle for the cowbell at the hands of the Greene County Rams by the score of 35-0.
On homecoming night in Jefferson, the rams struck first on a a touchdown pass from Daric Whipple to Nick Schroeder. Perry would respond with a drive reaching the red zone, but a failed 4th down attempt would lead to another Greene County scoring drive. After a Perry turnover deep in their own territory, Greene County capitalized on their first play with a 24 yard touchdown strike from Whipple to Tyler Beger. Returning from an illness that kept him out of last week’s contest, Whipple threw for 3 scores while also crossing the goal line twice on the ground. Perry was led by Tay Lucas who hauled in 6 passes for 36 yards, and accumulated 22 yards on the ground.
Perry drops to 0-7 (0-4) on the year and will return home next week for a district matchup with Webster City.
