Without standout quarterback Daric Whipple the Greene County offense struggled and the Rams lost a Class 3A District 2 football game in Humboldt 14-0 in the Wildcats’ homecoming game. The Rams have lost four straight and are 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the district while the Wildcats improved to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in district play. Whipple was in street close on the sideline Friday night after two stints in the hospital this week due to what head coach Dean Lansman described as complications from the flu.

Greene County entered the game averaging 34 points, but never were able get inside Humboldt’s 20 yard line. The Ramd had 166 total yards of offense to 229 for Humboldt. The only first half touchdown was on a four years run by Kyle McBeth with 8:32 left before intermission. The only second half TD came on a 20 yard pass to Mason Wickett from Drew Thomas. Anthony Castillo kicked both extra points.

The Rams play Perry in Jefferson on Oct. 9 in the annual homecoming game, which is also the Annual Battle the Cowbell at Linduska Field.
