You’ve surely heard the narrative by now: ADM’s defense must slow down another run-heavy offense to win.
It will apply again this Friday night when the Tigers welcome district foe Creston to Adel in a pivotal matchup that kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
In Atlantic, Winterset and Ballard, the Tigers have taken on power-running offenses. ADM had success shutting down all three team’s rushing attacks, and only Perry and Dallas-Center Grimes featured potentially dangerous aerial attacks.
Creston (3-2, 1-1) will lean on junior running back Chase Shiltz, whose 828 yards rank fourth and his 129 carries third in Class 3A, which pencils out to a robust 6.4 yards-per-carry.
First-year starting Panthers quarterback Moritz Johannknecht, meanwhile, has had mixed results. He’s completing 56.7 percent of his passes and has thrown for 690 yards, but has twice as many interceptions (6) as touchdown passes (3).
Our pregame coverage of ADM and Creston from Adel begins at 7 p.m. Friday on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
