The largest expansion project in Scranton Manufacturing’s history is now complete.
Vice-President of Operations Jim Ober says since this past winter when the 56,000-square foot addition was enclosed, they’ve installed two painting bays along with providing more space for a new product, a Roto-Pac garbage truck, will uses an auger to compact garbage. It will also allow the garbage truck manufacturer to increase its production by almost 50 percent.
The two and half year project only has a few minor organizational items left, but Ober says he’s very happy with how it turned out.
“You go back two and a half years ago, is the demand going to be there to support building such an expansion. But right now we have record back logs on all of our production lines, always looking for more help and that’s one of the things in this area that we want to be able to have a nice working condition to bring people in here.”
Along with the expansion, Scranton Manufacturing has hired 27 of its 75 jobs so far. Ober adds that earlier this month, the company sponsored an employee friends and family day where about 400 people go tour of the entire facility, including the new northern addition.
Ober anticipates full-scale production by next month.
