Greene Co Supervisors 9_21The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board voted in favor of conducting two engineer reports to reshape surface drainage in districts 27 and 108.  The Board also approved a beer permit for Paton Pit Stop and heard an update on various projects from Jefferson Matters: Main Street.

Carroll and Crawford County Environmental Health Director Carey Kersey then talked to the Board about services that her department offers.  The discussion was prompted following former County Zoning and Sanitarian Tim Healy’s retirement earlier this month with no replacement determined yet.  Board Chair John Muir said they are considering all options of what the job duties will be for the position.

“If we contract that (environmental health) out, we’ve went a direction of not having an individual responsible for all those responsibilities or we hire a replacement and that would be part of their responsibilities (along with) zoning would be part of their responsibility.  So yeah, I guess we’re still probably up in the air of what direction we are going to go.”

Carroll and Crawford County Environmental Health already conducts swimming pool and tanning bed inspections for Greene County.

During open forum, the Board agreed with Sheriff Steve Haupert’s request to have the President of Partnership for a Drug-Free Iowa Peter Komendowski speak to the Board about their projects and services during a three-day trip to Greene County in October.
