One person is dead after a single vehicle crash on Highway 141 between Perry and Woodward Monday morning.

Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Nathan Ludwig tells Raccoon Valley Radio they believe the elderly male victim suffered a medical emergency, stemming from a heart condition, while traveling eastbound on Highway 141 near Quinlan Avenue around 6:30am.  His pickup truck traveled through the median and across both westbound lanes before coming to rest north of the highway.

Several agencies responded to the scene including the state patrol, Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS.

The right lane of westbound Highway 141 was blocked for a short time during the morning commute while first responders tended to the accident.

The victim’s name, age and hometown have not yet been released, pending notification of family.
