When you think of sports in Germany, American football is usually not at the top of the list, but for Moritz Johannknecht he found his way as a foreign exchange student from Germany to Creston/Orient-Macksburg where he is the starting quarterback for the Panthers. Johannknecht (his coaches and teammates call him ‘Mo Jo’) played club football in his native country and apparently was quite good at it because the 6′ 2″, 180 junior has completed 31 of 47 passes in three games for the Panthers for 431 yards. He’s thrown for two touchdowns and had two passes intercepted. C/O-M head coach Brian Morrison saw his 2014 Panthers defeat the Rams twice last season including the opening round of the playoffs and the Panthers advanced all the way to the semifinals in the UNI-Dome. They graduated a very good quarterback and luckily for C/O-M, foreign exchange student Johannknecht found his way to Creston.
