A benefit will take place this weekend for Panorama Principal Mark Johnston. Johnston was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December 2014 and has to travel to Chicago every three weeks to receive treatment. Organizer Dave Grove says the benefit will provide financial support to Johnston’s family, but the main thing is showing emotional support as a community. “I think number one, we want the family to know that we truly care. We know they’ve been there for others in the community through his role as principal many times in the past. We want to show the family that we support them as well.”
The benefit will take place Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Panorama High School and will include a free will offering lunch, silent auction and live entertainment.
