Bauer Built Manufacturing UpdateBauer Built Manufacturing was one of the highlights at Wednesday night’s Greene County Development Corporation annual meeting at Wild Rose Jefferson.

Vaughn Bauer says his new 170,000-square foot facility, just east of Paton, finished construction and started production in January.  The new facility created about 50 new jobs and Bauer adds that everything from concept design to the finished product is all done in-house.  The business isn’t all that dissimilar from what Bauer did before at he sold his old facility on county road E-18 to Deere and Company in December of 2013.

Bauer ships the planters all over the country, just like he did when he made equipment for Deere and Company.  One part that still needs to be completed is paving the three-quarters of a mile of gravel road on Trinity Avenue with the funds from the Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy grant, which Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss was able to secure in 2013.  That project is estimated to cost $900,000.  The grant will cover about half of the amount, with the other half to come from secondary roads department.
