Turnovers and a sizzling performance from Austin Kloewer spelled doom for ADM football on Friday, as the Dallas-Center Grimes Mustangs trounced the Tigers, 35-7, in Grimes.
DCG (2-1. 1-0) won its district opener thanks to 247 yards of total offense and four touchdowns from Kloewer. The senior quarterback was efficient through the air, going 11-of-16 for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 120 yards more on just 15 carries, including two touchdowns.
The Tigers (2-1, 0-1), meanwhile, struggled to establish a run game and turned the ball over four times. Senior quarterback Frank Weiland was 18-of-29 for 192 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions.
Junior Sam McCartney enjoyed a solid day, catching five passes for 83 yards, while also throwing a touchdown pass to Gavin O’Steen when spelling Weiland for ADM’s only score of the night.
The Tigers return home and continue district play Friday night in Adel during homecoming against the Atlantic Trojans.
