Greene County started well against Class 3A number one ranked Nevada on Thursday night in the Cubs’ gym in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball. Scores were 22-25, 7-25, 13-25 as Nevada improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Rams fell to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.

The Rams led 22-20 in the first set before the Cubs scored the last five points for the win. The home team controlled the action in sets two and three.

Coach Donna Carhill said she was very pleased to see the Rams stay with a team like Nevada in the first set. “We played very well, but weren’t able to sustain that level of play for the other two sets. We continue to see improvement with each match.”

The Rams travel to Eldora on Saturday for the South Hardin Tournament.
