The Perry high school football team dropped their final non-district tuneup to the Gilbert Tigers on Friday night by the score of 44-0.

Gilbert scored on three straight first half possesions, taking a 30-0 lead into halftime. Senior quarterback Cole Drzycimski was sharp, connecting on three touchdown passes on the evening. Similar to last week, Perry’s defense wore down late, as the Tiger’s put together a long second half drive that culminated in a Zack Becker two yard touchdown plunge. Perry accumulated just 75 yards of offense while committing two turnovers. Bluejay signal-caller Ryan Rathje connected on 8 of 16 passes for 59 yards, while Tavier Lucas gained 13 yards on the ground filling in for the injured Eli Saemisch.

Perry falls to 0-3 on the year, and will visit the Boone Toreadors next Friday to open district play. Gilbert improves to 2-1, and will host Ballard in a district 6 matchup.
