The Greene County High School volleyball team continues its long road swing to start the season with a trip to Story County tonight to meet Class 3A number one ranked Nevada in the Cubs’ gym. Coach Donna Carhill’s team is 0-1 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play and 1-4 overall while the Cubs are 3-2 overall and tonight’s HOIAC is their first of the season.
The Cubs were 38-10 last season and advanced to the State Tournament semifinals before losing to eventual Champion Solon. Nevada’s two losses this season were in a tournament to Class 5A number eight Ankeny Centennial and 5A number nine Cedar Falls, and both were by two sets to one. The Cubs are led by a nine-member senior class that includes multiple all-state players.
After tonight, the Rams stay on the road and play in Eldora at Saturday’s South Hardin Tournament.
