Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 is hosting a couple of events this week.
The fourth annual Greene County Heros Dinner will be tomorrow for all area military veterans, firefighters, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel. This year’s special guest speaker is United States Army Retired Sergeant Major Gary Barrett, who is also an Elk. He is the chair of the Elks National Veterans Service.
The event will be at the Elks Lodge with a social time starting at 6pm with the dinner and program to begin at 6:30pm. The Jefferson Does are preparing and serving the meal. Past Exalted Ruler Hollie Roberts says the Elks focus on community involvement and they feel it is important for them to honor those who put their lives on the line for others.
The Elks are also hosting a breakfast on Sunday at the Elks Lodge. The menu includes a french toast bake, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee, milk and juice. Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for those 5 to 12 years-old and anyone four and under can eat for free. The breakfast will be served from 9am to 1pm and carry-outs will be made available.
