vote_earlyTuesday’s school board and special bond referendum election in Greene County is quickly approaching.

The Greene County Auditor’s office is still accepting absentee ballots.  The Auditor’s office says as of Wednesday morning, they received 247 absentee ballots.  Auditor Jane Heun says anyone can vote by absentee until 11am on Tuesday.  You have to fill out a request for an absentee ballot.  Requests for an absentee must be done at the Auditor’s office during normal business hours from 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, those that need to mail their absentee ballots, must do so by this Saturday for it to be valid.  The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is tomorrow.

Greene County School Board candidates are incumbent Ashley Johnston and newcomer John McConnell and both are running unopposed for two available seats.  Paton-Churdan School Board candidates are incumbent Jennifer Maach and John McCormick with a third seat to be filled in by a write-in candidate.  Voters in the Greene County Community School District will also be asked to decide on a $20 million bond referendum.
