The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a strange discharge to a creek in Redfield.
After concerned citizens reported a smell in the creek east of town, the DNR staff responded to try and identify the issue. Staff found a material seeping into the water from an old tile line to the creek. This has created a milky grey color and the odor.
Citizens tell the DNR the issue was first detected back in July and the evidence of the discharge can be found until it meets the South Raccoon River.
The public is asked to avoid contact with water in the creek until further notice.
