Greene County Medical Center is transitioning into their new expansion this weekend.

The departments moving over to the 52,000-square foot expansion on the east side of the current facility include nursing, obstetrics, surgery, imaging, lab and emergency care.

Once the transition is complete, Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne explains phase two of their project.

“We’ll begin the renovation phase, which includes the first floor acute area, as well as a vast majority of the A Level.  So where the old ER is, lab, radiology, surgery, all of that will begin demolition pretty quickly after our move over.”

Patients can park in the main lot off Lincoln Way and enter the medical center’s main entrance where you can register and be directed to the services you need.  For emergency care, the public is asked to use parking off Grimmell Road and you can walk right into the ER.  As for speciality services or UnityPoint Clinic, parking is in the lower level and access through the main entrance.

The new services will begin August 31st.
