All current, new and potential Greene County 4-H’ers are invited to a picnic this Saturday at Spring Lake Park.
Greene County Iowa State University Extension Director Lori Mannel says there will activities including a scavenger hunt, art, kickball, lawn games, skating and more. The event is sponsored by the 4-H Youth Development Committee. She points out that this event is for everyone, including those who participate or help with the local 4-H program.
“Those kids work so hard and the families. So, if you’re a leader, or a family, a member or you just help volunteer at the (county) fair, or if you want to get more information about it (4-H program). So, it’s not meant to be a meeting (and) it’s not meant to be a big recruitment tool, it’s meant to be a celebration.”
The games will start at 6pm, with a meal to be served at 6:30pm. The meat for the meal is donated by the Jefferson VFW Post #9599 and Peoples Trust and Savings Bank is helping to provide free skating at the skating rink. Parents and adults are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
