Now that school has started, the Jefferson Municipal Pool is reducing its hours in preparation to close at the end of this week.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says open swim will be from 3 to 7pm through Thursday.  Lap swimmers will continue to have normal hours.  The pool will go back to regular hours of operation Friday through Sunday, with the pool closing for the year on Sunday.

After the pool closes, Lautner points out that they will work with ACCO Unlimited Corporation to fix a leak.

“We are going to do a static test.  We will fill a bucket of water up and set it by the pool and we will measure that water everyday to see if it’s leaking.  If there’s an inch gone in the bucket, there should be an inch gone in the pool.  If it’s more than that, then we are losing it somewhere.”

Lautner hopes to get the leak repaired, along with getting the pool painted by ACCO and replacing the caulk around all the gutters before next year.
