The 2015 Iowa State Fair is over and several Greene County residents did well.
Marianne Carlson of Jefferson garnered lots of awards at the fair. She received five first place, four second place and five third place results, all in food categories. Other categories that Greene County residents received first place honors include wood carving, a twin look alike contest for one-year olds, along with 27 livestock first place or champion selections. Plus, there were 23 blue ribbons given to 4-H’ers for their static exhibits.
Greene County Iowa State University Extension Director Lori Mannel commends the work that the 4-H’ers did to prepare for this year’s state fair.
“I am so proud of the quality of exhibits and the number of exhibits at Greene County had. I had the pleasure of taking those down last week. Congratulations to all the kids and families that have worked so hard and have done very, very well at (the) state fair.”
