When the Perry football team cracks pads with a different color for the first time tonight, Head Coach Jason Olejniczak will be focusing in on two key aspects. Perry will travel to Baxter tonight for a 6:00 scrimmage against a 10-1 CMB team from a year ago.
“You never know how the kids are going to respond playing against a new team, under the lights at a high game speed,” responded Olejniczak, who his entering his 5th year on the job. “I want to see how some of the individuals handle the nerves and butterflies. I think there are still some evaluation performances to monitor as well, not just with the individuals but more of the schemes as a whole. We have installed so much offense that I think we are probably at the point where we could eliminate schemes rather than adding. I want to see how the line blocks certain schemes, how the running backs run, and which routes will work for the receivers. It will be a time to evaluate and eliminate some of the non-efficient material so we have our core system in place next Friday night.”
Perry will open up the 2015 season next Friday night at Dewey Field against ADM.
