Tomorrow will be a fun-filled day in Scranton.
It starts with the fourth annual Gary McDonald Tractor Ride at 9am. It will go from the community center to the fairgrounds in Jefferson, to Grand Junction for lunch and tour the Kennedy and Lincoln Highway museums and head back to Scranton by the mid-afternoon. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
In the afternoon will be a backyard cookout fundraiser for the community center. Advisory Board member Dawn Rudolph says five teams have signed up for a pork loin and hamburger cookoff. The best pork loin will be determined by the public, while the best hamburger will be decided by a panel of judges. A $5 admission charge will get you a pork loin sandwich, baked beans, chips, a variety of bars and beverages. The meal will be served from 4 to 6pm. There is also a side dish and dessert contests.
First place for the best pork loin will receive a $50 meat package from Moo Meat, second place will get a table top grill from Harrison’s RV and cash prizes will be awarded for the best hamburger, side dish and dessert.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to improvements for the community center.
