A magazine company executive turned author and poet is coming to Perry to entertain tonight and everyone is invited.

Jim Autry retired as the president of the Meredith Corporation and now the author of 13 published books.  This evening he will share his newest book On Paying Attention: New and Selected Poems at La Poste.

Autry tells Raccoon Valley Radio it’s an event for everyone, not just those who often read poetry.

“We don’t do a very good job of teaching people how to appreciate poetry and what to get from it.  What I try to do is make my poetry very accessible, very understandable by everyone.”

The event is presented by Hometown Heritage. In addition to the reading, Autry will also sign books that will be available for purchase as the event.

The evening starts with live music from Chad Elliot starting at 5pm in the Cellar at La Poste.
