perry signSeveral local entities are coming together to raise awareness about what our city crews do to help keep us safe this weekend.

The inaugural Public Safety Day takes place Saturday from 10am-1pm in the Perry Hy-Vee Parking lot.

Deputy Public Works Director Josh Wuekber says it will be an interactive day with someone for everyone.

“We’ll have a ton of equipment, which kids like.  We have a new snowplow truck and we’re going to let kids paint that for the winter time so you’ll be able to see that going down the road and say ‘Hey, that’s my name.’  It should be a neat thing.”

In addition to public works, the local police and fire departments will be there with several attractions.  The event is free and we will be there with the “Big Red Radio” broadcasting live from 10am until noon.
