West Central Valley Wildcat

The West Central Valley football game against Kuemper Catholic on September 11th will be special for a couple of reasons. One reason is that it’s the first home game of the year for the Wildcats. But perhaps more importantly is that it falls on Patriot Day and will allow the community to honor area veterans as well as remember the nearly 3,000 people killed in terrorist attacks on the same date in 2001. Activities Director Tod Broman says in the past they’ve held Patriot Day programs at other athletic events, but this is the first time they’ve been able to do it at a football game. “We’ve had home volleyball games that fell on that date, so we’ve always taken the time to recognize the people who lost their lives and honor the people who’ve served in the military since that time. Since it comes on a Friday, I thought it would be an ideal time to honor the past and current members of the military.”

Broman will tell us more about the plans for Patriot Day and other West Central Valley news today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com
