Greene County head volleyball coach Donna Carhill has been coaching the sport for some years now and she’s had tall teams, short teams, quick teams, and slower teams, but 2015 may bring a special challenge. Junior Nadia Fisher is the only player from the 2014 varsity squad that went 6-3 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and 13-18 overall that did not graduate. Eleven of last year’s varsity players were seniors, so Fisher is it in terms of varsity experience.
Coach Carhill talked about her plans for Fisher this season. “We moved Nadia from the middle to an outside hitter after her freshman year, She’s a great jumper and has a quick arm, and she can also help us block in the middle because she’s got a great jump there as well. This year she’ll play the left side for us, and bless her heart, she’s worked on her defense, and there’s a good chance she’ll play all the way around this year for us.”
The Rams open the 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Lake City at the South Central Calhoun tournament.
