A partnership between the Carnegie Library Museum in Perry and and the Dallas County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office will offer locals the chance to attend a day long seminar about native species next month.

The Going Native: Iowa Prairies Seminar will take place Saturday, September 19th.  ISU’s Chad Hunter will serve as the keynote speaker and present “Poems in the Landscape: An Exploration of the Works and Techniques of Landscape Architect, Jens Jenson”

Participants can then take part in two of three breakout sessions about milkweed and monarchs, farm conservation with prairie strips or establishing prairies within your own yard space.

Check-in for the seminar will begin at 9am, and the program concludes at 5:30pm after a prairie visit at the Forest Park Museum.

Registration is $25 per person, which includes a catered lunch.

To sign up, contact Caitlyn Ryan at 993-4281.
