Guthrie-Co.-Iowa-Deputy

We have new information from Friday’s high speed chase started in Ankeny and ended in Jefferson.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office reports that 29 year-old Meriah Teamer of Des Moines led authorities on a high speed chase from Ankeny Friday afternoon in a stolen 2015 black Toyota Camry.  Officers soon lost the vehicle when it entered Dallas County.  Perry Police resumed the chase on Highway 141, but discontinued the pursuit when the Camry entered Guthrie County heading west.

Guthrie County Deputy Jesse Swensen passed by the alleged vehicle heading east on Highway 141.  He then turned around and tried to pull Teamer over, but she kept driving in upwards of 100 miles-per-hour.  Swensen kept pursuing the Camry as it turned to go north on Highway 25 through Scranton.  The chase then turned onto US Highway 30, where Greene County Chief Deputy Jack Williams set out spike strips on the highway and M Avenue.  The vehicle’s right front tire blew out and it slowed down and eventually ended up in the south ditch by Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Jefferson.

Teamer was apprehended and transported to the Guthrie County Jail.  The accused is charged with a felony for eluding while participating in a felony, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while suspended and speeding.  The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office says Teamer will face additional charges from other jurisdictions.  The stolen vehicle belongs to Timothy Pritchett from Toyota Lease Trust in Ames.

No one was hurt in the incident.  The Iowa State Patrol, Greene and Carroll County Sheriff’s offices, Coon Rapids, Panora and Jefferson Police departments all assisted with the incident.
