Yesterday was the first official day of practice for Iowa high school fall sports, and that includes Greene County High School. Head Football Coach Dean Lansman and his staff are holding practices this week and next from 5-8 p.m. on the high school grounds in Jefferson. Players begin with helmets, t-shirt, and shorts, then add shoulder pads later this week. It’s not until Saturday, Aug. 15 when contact with full pads is allowed.
Greene County will host Panorama (Panora) the evening of Friday, Aug. 21 in the annual Sports Drink Scrimmage at Linduska Field, and the Rams open the 2015 regular season with a non-district game in Lake City vs. South Central Calhoun on Friday, Aug. 28. The regular season home opener is against Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) on Friday, Sept. 4.
All Ram football games can be heard “live” and play-by-play again this fall on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
