In addition to the free music, inflatables and games in the park on August 21st with Friday Fest, the Perry Chamber is also bringing a new but nostalgic event back to town.
The Perry Cruuze takes place downtown Perry and organizer Dave Wright says “scooping the loop” was a popular thing when he came to down in the 1980s but in today’s age of cell phones, tablets and texting that doesn’t happen anymore.
“So you don’t see as many people out on Friday nights as you used to. So part of the purpose of this was to try and get people out and about in the community and to enjoy the Perry experience.”
Wright says there are a lot of amenities in Perry that even the residents don’t know or take advantage of and he hopes this will help shine light on those.
“I’m hoping several things, number one that people even if they don’t have a car that they’ll get out and walk, or they’ll just be out and enjoy the outdoors. I mean exercise, which is good for our health. Maybe it’s time that we reflect on those past things that we’ve done in the community.”
The Perry Cruuze takes place from 6-10pm on Friday the 21st, for more information call Wright at 240-7281.
