The Greene County Chamber’s annual Hot August Night is fast approaching.
Over 300 exhibitors are expected to fill the streets on the downtown square in Jefferson with cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique tractors on display. Not only can everyone enjoy looking at a wide variety of vehicles, but there will be plenty of food and other shopping options as well.
The Jefferson Kiwanis Club will be serving hamburgers and pork loin sandwiches, plus chips and a drink for $5. The Jefferson Does will serve pie and ice cream, people can enjoy root beer floats from the The Gardens, Pizza Ranch will be serving pizza and the Jefferson Kiwanis Aktion Club will have popcorn for sale. Fareway is donating watermelon on a first come, first serve basis. Plus, attendees will receive a Cruise Into Savings coupons from participating businesses. Organizer Chuck Wenthold says their event is beneficial for area retailers.
“Having it on the square is really nice because people come and they get to go around and visit any of the businesses that are open. The husband goes and gets registered and the wife goes into one of the stores and comes out with bags of the goodies. They do enjoy having that opportunity.”
Sponsors for the event include Edward Jones, Ben Franklin, Oly’s Corner, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank, Home State Bank, Doc’s Stadium, Rueter’s Red Power, McAtee Tire & Service Center, McLaughlin International, Unger Insurance, Regency Park Nursing & Rehab Center, Harrison RV, Neese Incorporated and Hy-Vee Incorporated.
The Chamber is also looking for volunteers to help with the event that will be from 5 to 8pm this Thursday. Contact them at 386-2155.
