Last week we told you about the leadership abilities of ADM senior Jacob Hardy, who enjoyed a breakout campaign as a junior last season and who will be expected to put up similarly gaudy numbers at defensive end for the football Tigers this season.

Veteran ADM head coach Mike Whisner has praised Hardy for what he brings to the table as a passionate, vocal player.

Sixth-year defensive coordinator Bric Nelson agreed that Hardy is a strong leader, in particular because of his work ethic. That said, it will take more than just Hardy to fire up the Tigers.

“Yeah, he does a fine example because the numbers back it up and he shows the kind of work that he does on the field,” Nelson said. “But some of these other guys who maybe haven’t had such prominent roles in the years past, again waiting for the number to be called – we have good leadership throughout the team. And every leader has their own may of making their statement, their mark, and Jake plays a prominent role. But there’s other individuals who are going to step up and do good things for us.”

Hardy lead the Tigers in tackles (64.5), tackles for loss (7.5) and sacks (6.5).

The Tigers had their first official practice Monday and open the season August 28 at Perry.
