High school cross-country practice is underway today for the Greene County Rams. Veteran head coach Kelly Simpson returns to coach both the girls and boys. Both genders will compete on the varsity level at 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) for the first time. Previously, the boys girls ran 4K and the boys ran 5K.

There are nine regular season meets on the Greene County schedule including the only home meet of the season, which is set for Thursday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. Other teams scheduled to take part include Paton-Churdan, Perry, Ogden, South Hamilton (Jewell), Nevada, Creston, Colo-Nesco, Guthrie Center, CMB (Maxwell), Panorama (Panora), IKM-Manning, Southeast Valley (Gowrie), Denison-Schleswig, Roland-Story (Story City), Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton, Ar-We-Va (Westside), Audubon, and Winterset.
