An autopsy today should help determine what happened to the person that was found dead along the Raccoon River Valley Trail this weekend.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the trail north of 260th Street, southeast of Dallas Center, Saturday.  Sheriff Chad Leonard says the identity of the male subject is undetermined at this time.  The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation was called to assist with the case and tells Raccoon Valley Radio the body was found near the trail and at this time they do not believe the death is suspicious in nature.  They also told us they don’t have reason to believe trail users should be concerned with their safety.

The State Medical Examiner’s office is conducting the autopsy today in Ankeny.  Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
