In an effort to promote businesses and attractions, Jefferson Matters: Main Street is supporting a unique month long event.
Program Director Peg Raney says the Passport to Savings is an idea in conjunction with Iowa Tourism to help promote the state’s attractions. The Mahanay Bell Tower in Jefferson was one of the selected attractions to be included. She describes what adults can receive with every paid admission to the Bell Tower this month.
“With that admission, we’re giving them a Passport to Savings, with 15 percent off or similar kinds of deals. I think there were about 14 businesses that want to participate in that (and) they chose to do that. We would just like to encourage people to take a look.”
The Bell Tower is open daily from 10am to 4pm and an adult admission is $3. Anyone 18 years-old and younger can be admitted for free.
This weekend is also sales tax free weekend today and tomorrow, so everyone is encouraged to shop local.
