Soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and the city of Perry is being proactive to meet the growing demand for playing fields.  Phase 1 of the 3 long term phases is currently underway with bids being accepted for a new soccer complex at Pattee Park.  McCreary Center Director John Anderson explains what we can expect to see over the next few months.

“The first thing people need to know is where the complex will be.  The location is just to the west of the baseball fields at Pattee Park.  There are a couple of phases planned for the construction of the complex.  The first phase is taking place right now as we are actively taking bids for the construction of one adult soccer field and a small detention pond on the extreme northwest side of the land we talked about at Pattee Park.  We are hoping to get some dirt moved and actually start seeing work done later this fall or early in the spring of 2016.”

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have more on the new complex over the next week including the breakdown of phase 2 and why the City chose the sport of soccer for the additional complex.
