Bargain hunters will flock to several communities in the Raccoon River Valley this weekend as they look for deals during the Highway 141 Garage Sale event.
Hundreds of residents, businesses and organizations along the nearly 130-mile stretch of highway are expected to participate in the annual sale.
Perry Chamber Executive Director Bob Wilson encourages people to participate but also be aware of their surroundings.
“Be cautious on the highway, there’s lots of traffic and people are stopping very frequently, but it’s a good opportunity to get out there and get some great deals.”
Also, unlike past years Wilson says sellers will not be allowed to set up in the former Alco and Hy-Vee parking lot on 1st Street this year.
The route stretches from Mapleton to Grimes and most sales will be open at 8am Friday and Saturday and close at their own discretion.
