The summer workouts are nearly complete for Iowa State linebacker Kane Seeley.  The former Perry Bluejay enters his redshirt junior season in Ames as one of the leaders of Iowa State’s linebacker unit.

“It has been the typical summer for us in Ames,” stated Seeley.  “We run and lift every day at different times while working specific drills to carry over on to the playing field.  This time of the year is all about getting bigger, faster and stronger.  Plus we do a ton of film watching as well.  I just want to get my mobility going and increase my athleticism.”

Seeley moved into the starting linebacker position midway through last season after a series of injuries to some of the older defenders.  With a good chunk of last years’ experience gone, Seeley has now become one of the veterans of the Cyclone defense.

“Yeah, I think my role has changed a little bit this year.  The older linebackers are really close to the coaches and now that I am one of the upperclassmen, I feel I have to be more vocal and take a leadership role with some of the younger guys and get them on the same page as the rest of us.”

Iowa State will hold media day on Thursday, August 6th.
