It’s already been over four weeks since the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office took over law enforcement duties in the City of Guthrie Center. Mayor Denny Kunkle says city officials and residents both think the deputies are doing a good job. “It’s going very well. I have not had a single complaint saying we did the wrong thing there. We on the Council researched this very well and feel very comfortable with our decision.”
The Sheriff’s office does not serve city ordinance nuisance notices as part of the 28E agreement. In order to get that done, the City Council is in the process of hiring a part-time compliance officer. Applications for that position are due to the City Clerk’s office no later than Monday, August 10th.
