The Greene County Historical Society will host a rescheduled event this weekend at the courthouse in Jefferson.
The “Judges of Greene County” program was postponed in February due to inclement weather and it has been rescheduled to Sunday, August 2nd at 2pm on the third floor of the courthouse.
It will be led by the President of the Greene County Bar Association and attorney David Morain as well as current Iowa District Court Judge William Ostlund. Morain will be presenting the judges from the County’s settlement days of the 1850’s and ‘60’s. Ostlund will recount some of the unique cases he’s been apart of since he’s been on the bench in 1994.
Other judges that will be highlighted include United States District Court Judge William Hanson, his son Iowa District Court Judge Robert Hanson and Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Harris. Harris’s son-in-law is the current Greene County Attorney Nick Martino.
The program is free and open to the public.
