Greene County High School head softball coach Tom Kennedy spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio about all nine of the starters from this season’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference championship team being recognized by the other conference coaches. “This was a first in my years coaching, but this is the best team we’ve had. They were all deserving and it was a good group of kids. I think the other conference coaches recognized that. I’m really proud of all our girls. All nine starters at some points of their careers have been named to either the first or second all-conference team.”
Seniors Emily Christensen, Hannah Onken, Marissa Promes, and Emma Saddoris were named first team all-conference. Senior Bailey Godwin, and juniors Sydney Koch and Carleigh Paup were second team selections, while seniors Kayla Mobley and Tressa Rasmussen made the honorable mention list.
Greene County won the HOIAC title by four games over the closest competition and the Rams went on to a final record of 32-7 and a third place finish in the Class 3A State Tournament.
