KG98-RealCountryA wanted man led officers on a chase in Greene County Sunday evening.

According to the Jefferson Police Department,  an officer was on routine patrol at the intersection of Westwood and Grimmell Road when he saw 33 year-old Anthony Charles Kennedy drive by in a red Chevrolet S-10 pickup.  Knowing Kennedy had a Greene County warrant out for his arrest for a Probation Revocation and a Hamilton County warrant for Accessory to a Felony, the officer attempted to catch up with him on Grimmell Road.

The suspect then turned into a driveway in the 900 block of West Madison Street and took off on foot.  The officer chased him and Kennedy eventually ran back to his vehicle and took off northbound on Brackett Street before heading westbound on Monroe Street, southbound on Grimmell Road and then west on Westwood Drive.

An Iowa State Patrol trooper joined the pursuit after Kennedy turned northbound on Linwood Avenue.  The chase continued to 230th Street where the suspect went westbound before heading north on Kirkwood Avenue.  The Trooper then attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, which caused Kennedy’s vehicle to spin out.  The suspect took off in the opposite direction and officers followed him to Granite Avenue where the Greene County Sheriff and a Deputy deployed stop sticks.  This too failed to immobilize Kennedy and he continued to 220th Street westbound to Eaton Avenue.  As Kennedy turned southbound, a Deputy attempted another PIT maneuver which caused the suspect to spin out and enter the east ditch.

There, Kennedy was arrested and charged with a Class D Felony charge of Eluding, along with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence – 1st offense, Interference with Official Acts, Reckless Driving, Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and two counts of Excessive Speed for traveling 60 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone and 90 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone.

Kennedy remains in custody at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center.
